Introducing 33Percent

33Percent is an AI-powered chatbot that guides justice-impacted job seekers and fair chance employers through the collateral consequences of conviction, thousands of laws that make it difficult to obtain work and often prevent people from accessing jobs that match their qualifications and expertise.

Scale of the problem

Countless repercussions

Some collateral consequences have clear connections to a person’s conviction history and public safety, but this is not always the case.

Complex restrictions

Understanding what a person is permitted or prohibited from doing often requires in-depth research or legal expertise beyond the reach of many.

Effects on employment

The lack of clarity is discouraging for those trying to rebuild their lives and can create hurdles for employers who are open to hiring individuals with a record.

Leveraging the power of AI to create workforce solutions

In 2021, we partnered with UVA School of Data Science and UPenn Diversatech to transform the National Inventory of Collateral Consequences of Conviction (NICCC) into an interactive visualization to identify opportunities for individuals and employers. By 2024, we collaborated with UVA Data Science and the American Institute of Research (AIR) to integrate cutting-edge technology. Now we are piloting our new product.
